Teaching Bathroom Routines to Puppy

If you are expecting puppies to follow specific behaviors when they come into the house, then there are many things that you should teach your puppy to do before he is even born. Once the dog has been born, the training for these behavioral behaviors will be easier, but it will take longer to accomplish.

The first thing that you need to do when teaching bathroom routines to a puppy is to take a nice cold shower. Get as far away from the normal moisture and warmth as possible. Once you get out of the shower, you will find that this helps your puppy calm down.

When toilet training your puppy, it is best that you begin training him when he is still very young. The older puppy is when you will have to remember to give him his meals at the right time and you will have to be very observant to make sure that he goes to the bathroom on time. By using this method you will be able to train your puppy to stop going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Once the puppy has gotten used to sleeping through the night, you can begin to teach him the proper bathroom habits.

If you are not confident enough to let your puppy eat the right amount of food at the right time, you can use your toilet. Put a bowl of food in the bathroom and ask your puppy to wait for it until he is ready to go to the bathroom. The dog will still be too young to be drinking while he is in the bathroom, so it is good practice to have something available for him to drink.

You should also give the puppy a certain amount of praise after he has finished using the bathroom. This is to let the puppy know that he did a good job. Praise the puppy and use words like “good job”well done” and you will find that the puppy will get the message that he is doing a good job.

Puppies tend to be more than eager to go when they are hungry. Do not be upset if your puppy does not go to the bathroom during the night. If you make it a point to praise the puppy whenever he goes to the bathroom during the night, you will notice that he will be much more likely to go when he is hungry and then whenever he wants to.

Puppy’s that are grown may become quite embarrassed to use the toilet at times. Teach your puppy how to use the toilet at all times. Also give your puppy plenty of love, care and attention so that he feels loved and cared for by you.

You will find that the puppies will start to look forward to the night. It will also help if you make sure that you have a place to potty and that you have a sound and steady source of light so that your puppy can be completely comfortable while he is in the toilet.
